Gymnastics is a high performance sport requiring the following: physical strength, flexibility, balance, power, agility, control coordination, and grace. Injuries can result from sudden impact, not warming up or cooling down properly, overtraining and pushing your body beyond its limits.
Injuries that can occur from an unbalanced upper body can be in the shoulder, elbow and wrist such as tendinopathies and sprains. Most common injuries in the lower body such as ligament sprains or mechanical locking of joints affecting the muscular function which involve back, hip, knee, ankle from the landing and dismount activities .
What do you feel?
Usually function begins to deteriorate in the form of weakness, fatigue, awkwardness of motion, restricted distance before other symptoms like pain, swelling, pins and needles, sharp catching pain, and numbness present as body struggles to perform efficiently.
