Rugby is a very tough and competitive sport with a high risk of injury. The impacts and tackles can have a toll on your body’s joints and muscles.
The main causes of rugby related injuries are overuse, weak muscles, not warming up/cooling down properly, use of inadequate equipment such as poor fitting shoes, impacts such as tackles, scrums, falls & bumps, twisting, and rapid stopping and starting motion.
What do you feel?
Symptoms include pain, restriction/stiffness, muscular tightness, spasms, numbness, Pins and needles, weakness, fatigue, awkwardness of motion, swelling, cramping, pinching/catching, sharp shooting pain, and burning. Improper mechanical use of the body can lead to various instability injuries such as groin strain, sprained ankles, shoulder impingement and joint instability.
